MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) – The Mount Pleasant Police Department is making it easier for area businesses and residents to get alerts from the police.
The department has partnered up with a company called Vizsafe to offer an app for business owners to get information on local crime and alerts. They’ve also teamed up with Nextdoor, a private social media app for neighborhoods.
Vizsafe: See it, Share it
Mount Pleasant businesses that sign up for Vizsafe can get notifications about shoplifting and robbery suspects, crime trends, crime prevention efforts, alerts and other information that may impact their businesses.
“The Vizsafe application has allowed us to connect with our businesses so that we can now send vital information quickly to store managers, loss prevention officers and owners,” says MPPD Inspector Chip Googe. “We can send a push notification directly to these businesses that will show up on a smartphone or on a desktop computer.”
The service is provided free of charge and will work in partnership with the app Mt. Pleasant police already offer, but geared towards business owners.
“More participation will help ensure the program’s success. Any business in Mount Pleasant can apply to be a part of this network,” Googe says. “We foresee this program growing into a Lowcountry network that helps curtail crime in the tri-county area and not just Mount Pleasant.”
If you are a business owner and would like to be included in this network, contact Inspector Chip Googe at firstname.lastname@example.org.
